Abstract
Liquid crystalline substances were characterized for the stability by the conductivity and its change after a heat stress. Microscopic investigations clarified the role of ions in the conductive property, providing the importance of the behavior of ions, which is characteristic of each liquid-crystalline substance class, in respect to the stability. Improvement of the stability was confirmed on liquid-crystalline mixtures for low voltage operation, introducing the novel concept and the new substances.
