Abstract
Conventional gray scale expression of AC PDPs utilize the ADS scheme in which a TV field is divided into sub-fields, which are again divided into address-and sustain-discharge periods. In this scheme the maximum light-emission duty factor is limited to 30%, restricting high luminance performance. The paper reports a successful operation of an AC PDP with an Address-while-Display scheme, which allows an extension of the light-emission duty to more than 90%.
