Abstract
An "Address-while-Display" scheme has been developed for HDTV expression using a 3-electrode. surface-discharge AC-PDP. The scheme applies both scan and signal pulses to the panel during intervals between display pulses, requiring no additional time for panel-addressing. As a result, a light-emission duty was extended to 91%. The duty is independent of the number of scanning lines. Using the scheme, 256 gray levels with a peak white luminance of 1200 cd/m^2 was obtained.
