Abstract
Characteristics of a thin-film Y_2O_3 cathode covering an Aluminum thin-film electrode were investigated. Both the Al electrode and Y_2O_3 were made by EB deposition. This cathode shows a small change of discharge voltage after aging. And its lifetime is more than 50,000 hours due to the suppression of deposition of sputtered Al. The operational margin of a panel with this cathode structure driven by the pulse memory is more than 20V. Good quality TV pictures were reproduced on an 8-inch panel with resistor-in-cell structure. During the lifetime test by pulse memory drive the whole panel was driven stable and the panel has long lifetime enough to practical use.
