Abstract
Ce^<3+>-doped strontium thiogallate (SrGa_2S_4 : Ce) thin films with blue-emission have been prepared by multi-source deposition. Sr metal, Ga_2S_3 and CeCl_3 powder were used as source materials. The films were deposited at a substrate temperature of 450℃ and Ga_2S_3/Sr flux ratio of 50. After the deposition, they were annealed at 80O℃ for 1.5 hours in H_2S atmosphere. In this experiment, the dependence of the luminescent propreties of the film on Ce-contents in the film was investigation. The film showed the small red shift in luminescent spectrum and the decrease in luminescent intensity at Ce-contents higher than a critical value. It was suggested from the results of PL and CL measurement that the distribution of Ce luminescent center is uniform both at the suriace and in the bulk of the film. It was found that the optimum flux ratio of CeCl_3 to Sr, CeCl_3/Sr supplied for the substrate is around 3.0×10^<-2> for the luminescent intensity and spectrum.
