Abstract
We have studied equalization techniques using pilot carriers for an OFDM system. The signal to interference ratio (SIR) of the equalizer output signal over a time-invariant multipath channel (D/U=10dB) are measured for constant interpolation and simplified liner interpolation (which can be realized without multipliers) for the channel response estimation. The results show that the SIR of 27dB (input CNR=30dB, delay time of interference signal=10μS) are obtained for the simplified linear interpolation. We have also calculated the SIR for equalized signal in case of the interpolation by FIR filters with the sinc functional impulse response against the number of coefficient bits. The results show that the bit accuracy of the FIR tap coefficients of 10 bits are required without degradation of the SIR.
