Abstract
Recently, for a growing demand of multimedia data transmission in the home, IEEE 1394 serial bus is attracting much attention as a next generation user network interface. IEEE 1394 serial bus has significant advantages for home network : high speed (100/200/400Mbps), support for Plug-and-Play and Hot-Plug-In and isochronous mode, but it has one considerable limitation of 4.5m transmission distance. In this paper, we report the first development of the IEEE 1394 IR (infrared) wireless transmission technologies for intra-room home networking. Further, we report the IEEE 1394 IR wireless adapter which supports 1394 S100 and enables to communicate up to 10m with adequate alignment tolerance.
