Abstract

Recently, the multimedia communications with video processing attract a great deal of attention. We developed a DSP "MSPM: Multimedia Signal Processor with embedded memory" with 0.35μm embedded DRAM technology in order to implement video processing software applicatins efficiently. The MSPM architecture progressed extremely the performance by SIMD hardware for image processing, and can make full use of high speed and high bandwidth memory interface on embedded DRAM. It has also two link ports for the scalable parallel video processing. The performances of a MSPM chip at 66 MHz reached to 800 MOPS and the maximum memory transfer speed achieved 1 1:1GB/s.
