Abstract
To confirm the theoretical prediction of one-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals(1D-MPC) experimentally, 1D-MPCs with Bismuth substituted rare-earth iron garnet(Bi:RIG) thin films were fabricated by using pulsed-light rapid annealing was not destroyed multilayer film, and their optical and magneto-optical properties were investigated in detail. The media exhibited considerably high transmittance and Faraday rotation at designated localized wavelengths of light in the photonic bandgap. Faraday rotation of 1D-MPC is several times as large as that of single layer Bi:RIG and agree with calculation value.
