Abstract
In the D-VHS MPEG2 mode, trick play data are allocated in exclusive area and the tape-running fluctuation is a serious problem. It is usual to evaluate accuracy of the mechanism by measuring a track-bend statically but difficult to evaluate actual fluctuation. We have developed a new dynamic measurement method that enables observation of the tape-running fluctuation in the trick mode as time axis fluctuation of the output signal. Using this dynamic method, we verified the required size of the trick play data area, namely the repetition times of the contents that is indispensable to maintain robustness. We also clarified the required accuracy for the mechanism and realized mass production.
