Abstract
This paper proposese a new concept of packet transmission method and scheduling scheme which is called "Window based TDM-like Scheduling"(W-TDM). The scheduling scheme is a frame-based with time-slot allocation strategy. The system services a packet only if the packet associates with one of the connections determined by a service-window at that time.(current window)The service-window concept is to introduce decreasing of the complexity of scheduler designing stage, which then increase the packet switching speed. The advantage of frame structure is delay-bound capability while time-slot allocation leads to no delay jitter, cell lost free and isolation property. In addition, the window concept is applied here to minimize the switch designing cost. The proposed system employs all the strategies mentioned above to enhance today broadband integrated services packet network technology.
