Abstract
In this paper, a new encoding method of stereo pictures using wavelet transform is proposed. In today's researches, encoding method of stereo pictures using Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT)and parallax compensation has been investigated. But encoding method using DCT bring on the block noise. To overcome the difficulty, we will discuss to use wavelet transform instead of DCT in the proposed encoding system. Then we use parallax compensation by overlap block matching when we search for parallax vector. Subjective evaluations on computer simulation show that the proposed method is better than conventional method. This encoding method has been effectively verified by the simulation results.
