Abstract
Categorical color mapping using color-categorical weighting method is proposed for gamut mapping. This method determines the most optimal mapping point in a destination space by shifting LCH (Luminance, Chroma, Hue) of a source color with color-categorical weighting. The proposed method is compared with GCUSP and clipping method on gamut mapping from a CRT monitor to a printer for evaluating its performance. Categorical color mapping is ranked first with statistically significant difference on Z-score derived from paired comparison experiment.
