A Personal View of Ubiquitous Multimedia and a goal of MPEG-21

Broadband services are rapidly growing in Japan. But it is questionable if the enough discussion was done on the service model of the ubiquitous multimedia. This paper will discuss on the vision of ubiquitous multimedia. ISO/IEC MPEG also recognizes importance of the use of multimedia in the network and is working hard on it's MPEG-21 standardization. We also mention our consideration of the goal of the MPEG-21.
