Abstract
Narrow track recording is the most significant requirement for a higher area density. Laser-assisted magnetic recording technology enables narrower track recording and reproducing than the track width of a magnetic head. We have demonstrated that the laser-assisted magnetic recording has the potential of narrow track formation without loss in frequency response by using a TbFeCo magnetic recording film, a blue laser diode, and a conventional GMR magnetic head.
