Abstract
The digital terrestrial broadcasting which will be available from 2003 is superior to the conventional analog one in robustness for mobile service because of the transmission systems, forward error correction and so on. However, an instantaneous break of data occurs due to the loss of the radio wave, while we move along an over-pass or a valley between tall buildings, or enter to an area where we can receive only weak radio wave. This instantaneous break of data is uncomfortable to most users, especially in streaming music program. This problem must be solved to offer high-quality service with digital terrestrial broadcasting. Then, in this report we first proposes a complementary digital broadcasting system that is suitable for mobile audio streaming service to prevent from the instantaneous break of digital data. Next, we show the results of field test with mobile vehicle to verify our proposed system. Test result of field test shows that the proposed system has an effect on decreasing frequency of instantaneous break, which amounts to approximately twenty or thirty percent.
