Abstract
The BER performance of a 1024 QAM cable transmission signal having interference is experimentally evaluated. A VSB-AM signal and an OFDM signal are considered as the possible co-channel interference on the cable TV receiver from terrestrial broadcasting. We demonstrate that the OFDM signal statistically behaves like Gaussian noise on the QAM receiver. Also the inter-modulation distortion effect on a 1024 QAM signal, induced from nine frequency-division-multiplexed 64 QAM or nine OFDM signals in the nonlinear operation of a cable TV amplifier, is also discussed by showing the probability distribution function (PDF).
