Abstract

We measured velocity thresholds for relative and uniform motion in two conditions, dichoptic and binocular presentation to investigate motion process level. In the first experiment, we measured velocity threshold as a function of spatial frequency and as a function of contrast in the second experiment. The results showed that the sensitivity for relative motion changed depending on the way of stimulus presentation. The sensitivity is high compared to uniform motion when viewed binocularly, but there is almost no difference between relative and uniform motion when viewed dichoptically. This suggests that the process of relative motion occurs before binocular integration.
