Abstract
FePt ordered alloy with (001) preferential orientation is a hopeful candidate as a next-generation high density magnetic recording medium, especially, heat assisted magnetic recording medium and bit patterned medium, hi this report, the controllability of FePt(Cu) ordered alloy thin films as the heat assisted magnetic recording media and fabrication method of FePt ordered alloy using MgO (100) preferential orientated films as the future self-assembly patterned media were investigated. It is possible to control Curie temperature from 150 ℃ to 250 ℃ by changing the amount of Cu in FePt(Cu) films, hi the fabrication method of FePt using MgO (100) oriented films, It was confirmed that Fe atoms in the Fe layer beneath the MgO layer diffuses up to MgO surface by heating MgO(100)/Fe(100) films prepared with reactive sputtering. Besides, using this experimental results, we succeeded in fabricating FePt(Cu) ordered alloy films.
