Abstract
We are conducting an experimental study for the estimation of effective dielectric constant of a 2D discrete random medium. At the first stage of the study, it has been shown that the cylindrical standing waves can be used to estimate the dielectric constant of planar dielectric material. This paper is concerned with the measurement of electric field distribution around a dielectric cylinder when a line source is located near the cylinder. The experimental results are compared with those obtained by theoretical analysis to estimate the dielectric constant of the cylinder. The estimation is necessary to evaluate the effective dielectric constant of a medium, in which dielectric cylinders are randomly distributed.
