Abstract
The electromagnetic waves propagating around buildings have been analyzed numerically and experimentally. The results obtained by this study show that the electromagnetic waves propagating around buildings change depending on what a structure of a building is considered. In this study, electromagnetic waves propagating around three adjacent buildings which are considered as three structures; (1) square pillars, (2) hollow square pillars and (3) hollow square pillars with iron bars, have been analyzed numerically and experimentally. Both results obtained by the FVTD method and experimental measurements agree well. Transmitted waves to the back of buildings considered as hollow square pillars are larger than those considered as square pillars. That is to say, electromagnetic waves propagating inside the buildings considered as square pillars are more attenuated than those propagating inside the buildings considered as hollow square pillars.
