Abstract

This study presents a radiation efficiency enhancement on circularly polarized leaky wave antenna (CP LWA) using composite right/left handed transmission line (CRLH-TL). In my previous research, the CP LWA was achieved because of the better phase difference and amplitude ratio. The 90° -phase difference can be obtained by optimizing the dimension of the unit cell. And the amplitude ratio of |E_x| and |E_y| for CP was obtained by selecting a suitable position of the CRLH-TL between both edges of the ground. In this study, the radiation efficiency is enhanced by increasing the number of the unit cell, maintaining the circular polarization characteristics by applying the same method as previous research. As a result, the radiation efficiency of 52% is obtained on the operation frequency band which is from 2.68 to 2.9 GHz by the experiment.
