Abstract
Theoretical performance analysis of our proposed CMOS image sensor that performs binary/linear search on the pixel array is presented. The line position output of the search circuit has a systematic error that results from non-ideality of minimum voltage circuit as well as the variation of transistors and noise. The precision of our proposed method is compared to that of conventional gravitational center method. Evaluation based on numerical simulations shows that our proposed method is effective, and introduction of linear search improves the line detection accuracy by the factor of up to 70 compared to when we only use binary search.
