Abstract
Translation technologies constitute an important new field of translation study, and a number of researches on the technological aspects and their influence on translation/translators have been conducted in recent years. Not only MT (machine translation)/CAT (computer aided translation) but also general IT tools such as email, web browser, and word processors are essential technologies that are changing the way translation is performed, or translation process. In this paper, various types of contemporary researches on translation technologies will be explored in terms of translation process, including cognitive process of translator and physical process of professional practice. Throughout the paper, we will also be looking at a possibility and feasibility of pre-edit machine translation process in localization discourse.
