Clinical analysis of 25 cases of oral candidiasis associated with systemic diseases was performed. Their age and sex predilection, location, clinical symptoms and general diseases of the patients were studied. The results were as follow3:
1. Oral candidiasis was much more common in males than in females by a ratio of 2:1, and was commonly observed in aged patients.
2. General diseases of the patients were commonly cardiovascular systemic disorders, malignant tumors, and diabetis mellitus.
3. They were usually free of symptoms but gave such complaints as change in the sense of taste, a burning sensation, dryness or contact pain of the mucosa.
4. Appearance of the mucous membrane was characterized by a whitish coat, and spotty or diffuse redness.
5. A simplified culture (Stomastat) revealed 20 cases as positive(+), and 4 cases as weak positive(±).
