For the detection of sialolith in the duct of the submandibuiar gland, the conventional occlusal film method may be used but in the gland, the occlusal film should be exposed to the X- ray from the posterior-inferior focus position.
By the occlusal method, it will show only the existence of the sialolith but will not show the location.
Therefore, the screen must be used for dose reduction of the X-ray. By using the screen, the dosage will be one thirtieth of the conventional dosage. This is a report to show how to detect the sialolith in the submandibular gland and how to reduce the X-ray dosage.
