An unusual case of tuberculous submental lymphadenitis has been reported.
A 63-year-old man was referred to our clinic, complaining of swelling of the floor of the mouth. At the age of 17, he had had pulmonary tuberculosis, Physical examination revealed a elastic hard, movable and nontender mass of the size of a hen’s egg in the submental region. Lateral view of the soft x-ray film of the skull showed a well-defined mass in that region.
Under general anesthesia, a cluster of nodes was removed en bloc. The postoperative course was satisfactory.
Histopathologic diagnosis was tuberculous lymphadenitis.
