Abstract

This study interviewed 5 nurses in acute care wards who had never performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) regarding a support system needed to maintain the quality of CPR for 2 years after taking a Basic Life Support (BLS) course. The quality of CPR is maintained by re-checking skills that draw on course content or re-creating clinical settings and periodically checking skills. A support system requires instructors who are practiced in performing CPR, and those instructors help to sustain the skill level of course attendees. Aspects of support from instructors need to be specified in the future.
