Abstract

A 50-year-old female was admitted with transient aphemia and right upper limb paralysis. On admission, she was alert, laboratory tests showed thrombocytopenia and hemolytic anemia, a direct Coombs test was positive. Crushed erythrocytes could not be confirmed until day five of admission, making an early recognition of the neurological symptoms to be a psychoneurological feature of TTP difficult. TTP is a disease with a high mortality, however its early diagnosis is difficult. The PLASMIC score may be useful for a timelier diagnosis of TTP.
