Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the mechanism by which the two concepts of resilience and career autonomy affect IT engineers' perceived limits of competence.
The existence of this sense of competence limitations has been noted for over 40 years, and continues to plague Japanese IT engineers. As a result of verification through a survey of 296 IT engineers, we show that the three elements of: resilience, career autonomous behavior (behavior caused by career autonomy), and sense of competence limitations are related via a mediation variable model. This study may lead to elucidation of the mechanism behind of the sense of competence limitations that have plagued Japanese IT engineers for many years.
