Abstract

Rework programs have been recently developed in Japan as return-to-work programs specifically designed for patients with decent vocational careers or relatively mild mental disorders. These programs were practiced in our psychiatric daycare system for more than 10 years. On the grounds of our clinical experience, the following points could be categorized to make the rework programs effective: (1) training of several kinds of social skills, (2) Morita therapeutic psychoeducation, (3) application of brief therapeutic tools, (4) various kinds of body exercises and works, (5) systemic approaches such as utilizing familial and group dynamics, and (6) casework interventions (tailor-made approaches).
