Abstract
This study aims to develop driver's lane-change intent inference algorithm via monitoring driver glances during a preparation phase for changing lanes. In this paper, a modification is conducted on the detection method proposed in a previous study the effects of performing a cognitively distracting activity in order to be applicable under cognitively distracting driving conditions. The modified method is applied to inferring driver intent when a driver performs a secondary cognitive task. The result indicates that the modification is effective to improve the detection rate and helpful to apply the detection for giving a support to a distracted driver.
