Abstract
We have developed an artificial heart using a magnetically levitated motor. A rotor-impeller is actively suspended and rotated by an electromagnetic field of the magnetically levitated motor. Three-dimensional magnetic field analyses of the magnetically levitated motor were performed to examine effects of rotor displacement on magnetic levitation. The displacement in the radial direction of the rotor does not influence the magnetic levitation, but, as for the displacement in the z direction and the angular displacement about the radial axis of the rotor, those negatively influence the magnetic levitation when a magnetic suspension force in the radial direction was produced.
