Geometric analysis has revealed that the compatibility between the occlusal facets and the occlusal reference surface is required to achieve the functional form of occlusion that is in harmony with the jaw movement. However, the findings of the craniomandibular control system revealed that the alteration of occlusion also altered the jaw movement per se. Such effects are caused by the reflex action elicited by occlusal contacts. Index B that exhibits the ratio of jaw movement parameter with or without occlusal contact will be a valid indicator to evaluate reflex action with occlusal contact. It is important to eliminate harmful occlusal interferences, but restoring the missing occlusal contact is also significant to achieve the desirable occlusion.
