It was demonstrated elsewhere that in reaction to the occlusal force transmitted to implants inserted in the jaw bone, various phenomena occur in the bone around the implants such as bone resorption and new bone formation. These reactions are of clinical importance as they greatly affect the functions of the stomatognathic system after implantation.
We personally observed new bone formation in the bone around the fixture after implantation. However, the condition and time of new bone formation surrounding a functional implant is poorly understood. To examine these, cases in which implant prostheses had been fabricated are analyzed.
