Abstract

In order to control inflammation and maintain occlusion, it is essential to perform periodontal treatment and occlusal therapy simultaneously in those cases where periodontal prostheses are required due to severe occlusal breakdown.
Three key points seem very important in occlusal therapy, namely, anterior guidance, posterior support and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) .
In this presentation I will discuss the significance of“anterior guidance”and“comprehensive dentistry, ”showing a periodontal prostheses case which was necessitated by periodontal disease and occlusal breakdown.
