Abstract
The widely established regenerative procedures have recently begun to be applied to implant therapy and the treatment of periodontal diseases. In these cases, although a variety of materials are used for bone augmentation, the use of appropriate bone replacement materials is important. The authors are currently using three bone replacement materials, β-TCP (absorbable beta-tricalcium phosphate) (trade name: OSferion), Bio-oss, and autogenous bone. In this paper the authors introduce their views with regard to the proper use of β-TCP by employing knowledge of the characteristics of β-TCP, the selection of therapeutic uses, as well as the details of actual cases.
