Abstract

In 2019, Yamaguchi prefecture announced that the dissolution of Akiyoshidai International Art Village was under consideration. However, that came to a standstill. The facility is still in operation. In examining the reasons why the discussion on the dissolution had not progressed, this study focuses on the purpose and design concept of the facility. Official statements, statements of the governor, views of opponents, and details of the institute is also introduced. The findings show that the purpose and design concept of the facility were not correctly presented to the people, leading to various discrepancies in interpretations of the actual state of the facility.
