Abstract
A Purpose of this paper is to analyse theoretically contemporary Japanese cultural policies from a point of view of cultural sociology. Japanese cultural policies have had the following set of three strategies, managed by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and have co-existed between traditional culture and other cultures. (1) a small scale of cultural patronage in national level, (2) a national educational system in artistic fields, (3) a national decoration system.
