Abstract
Today, the opera has great interest for many people. This paper takes up the Shostakovich's famous opera The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District, and examines the social character of this opera. From the viewpoint of opera as synthetic art, this piece's immanent and original structure will be analyzed. It will be clear that the opera expressed through the social media, language and music, has the interrelationship with the ideal and hope of common people, power and wealth and taste of modern society.
