Abstract
Examining historical changes in Korean opera, this study analyzes the circumstances of the opera today. The changes can be broadly divided into four stages based on the way of producing opera by Korean opera companies: the fetal stage, the growth stage, the expansion stage and the development stage. The study attempts to grasp the changes of production methods in each stage and presents an analysis of each characteristic. In regard to the current situation, which is the development stage, the study demonstrates the following three characteristics: 1) Collaborations that serve to strengthen the opera company network has become multiple, and the number of performances has also increased, 2) various strategies of customer service have been developed to gain new audience and increasing ticket sales can be expected, 3) segmentation of the opera community has been caused by different approaches to increase and maintain the number of operagoers
