Abstract

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to clarify the actual conditions of the coastal zone management in china based on the “Law of the people’s Republic of China on the Administration of the Use of Sea Areas”, through a case study of Qingdao city, Shandong province. Qingdao has been taking a leading role in coastal zone management since early 90s and has also been designated for one of the four model districts in china since the establishment of above-mentioned law in 2002. It has been understood in this paper that the coastal zone management in china today is being conducted mainly under the market mechanism for improving the efficiency of the management, but still a number of problems left in fairness and efficiency of its execution.
