ABSTRACT : Although it has been known that Black-tailed Gulls Larus crassirostris breeds along the coast of Murakami, Niigata, Japan, the information about the number of their nest have not been updated more than thirty years. In this study, we counted the number of nests in the Black-tailed Gulls by land-based surveys in April 2017 and 2018. A total of 343 nests were observed in 2017, and 394 nests in 2018. Compared with the previous records in 1980s, our results showed that the nest of Black-tailed Gulls in Murakami have increased in numbers.
