ABSTRACT : In this study, for timber pond in the harbor, captured the location and space characteristics of water surface and adjacent areas and captured water surface and hinterland utilization characteristics focused on case of conversion to urban use of water surface. As a result, we were able to check 156 water surface of timber pond. And according to the location and space characteristics, it is classified into three types: urban type, harbor type, and rural type. And diversions of the water surface were confirmed in the port function urban type and harbor type. In addition, the water surface, which is integrated with the water area and land area, has a relatively large population and large water surface scale, and is highly accessible. And with the introduction of the district plan, it was understood that the urban area was formed in consideration of water surface use.
