Abstract

ABSTRACT:Realizing citizens’ awareness of community consciousness is an important step in supporting small-scale nature conservation (collaborative nature restoration) programs. In practice, however, the relationship between community consciousness and motivation to participate in small-scale nature conservation (collaborative nature restoration) is not sufficiently understood. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between community consciousness and motivation to participate in these projects (including 13 conservation schemes in Japan) using the same questionnaire method as in previous studies. This study suggests self-determination, solidarity and proactiveness, and attachment to be important factors that enhance motivation to participate in collaborative nature restoration programs in Japan.
