Tokyo Bay is situated at the central part of Honshu, Japan, and is sized about 80km from north to south and about 30km from east to west. Kanagawa prefecture, Tokyo metropolitan and Chiba prefecture are located in the coastal area of Tokyo Bay.
In this paper we deal with the distribution and the classification of intertidal shells collected in nine coast localities in Tokyo Bay, from 1957 to 1960.
The shell list shows 75 families with 201 species. The following are the results obtained by this research: Kanagawa Pref., 1) Kannonzaki : 52 families with 111 species. 2) Mabori coast :63 families with 134 species, 3) Kanazawa Hakkei:23 families with 35 species, Tokyo Metlo., 4) Oomori coast:11 families with 16 species. Chiba Pref., 5) Urayasu and Makuhari coast : 22 families with 40 species, 6) Anegasaki coast: 16 families with 21 species, 7) Kisarazu coast: 34 families with 49 species. 8) Futtu coast: 46 families with 88 species and 9) Kanaya and Takeoka coast: 30 families with 58 species.
