Abstract

Since its opening, the Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples has used commercially available database software to build a database of its collection for its operations. In the spread of the new coronavirus, the museum sought to increase the number of users to the museum without having to come to the museum and decided to start publishing information on the museumʼs collection on the Internet, which had been a long-standing concern.

In the course of researching the release of museum collection materials, it came to be considered essential to use IIIF for images, and Omeka S, a content management system dedicated to digital archives, was adopted to perform this task.

In this case report, we introduce a case study of the construction of a database of museum collection materials using Omeka S.
