Abstract

The CERS methods were applied for publicly available records of the 311 earthquake in conventional and seismically isolated buildings. The results show that the wave propagation velocity is clearly different for each building. In the short direction, the wave propagation time increased more significantly in the conventional building, and the difference became larger. In the longitudinal direction, it increased slightly and then stabilized in the seismically isolated building, but gradually increased in the conventional one. Although both buildings show more damage in the short direction, both the increase in propagation time and damping are much smaller for the seismic isolation building. Furthermore, the behavior of multi-rubber bearing high damping type was also considered and interesting results were obtained. Thus, the validity of the CERS methods as a realtime structural health monitoring method was confirmed.
