Abstract
Gastrointestinal bleeding in children arises from various causes, some of which may require emergency treatment or a laparotomy. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate management are crucial for pediatric cases of gastrointestinal bleeding. In this report, we reviewed the strategy in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal bleeding in children. We also analyzed our patients with gastrointestinal bleeding who required emergency treatments. Nearly 50% of patients with gastrointestinal bleeding required emergency treatments. Most of the patients who required an emergency laparotomy were less than one year of age, in whom the need for emergency laparotomy appears to be greatest.
