Seven BWR plants have already come into operation with total of 37 operation cycles in Tokyo Electric Power Co. as of November, 1983. This report presents the basic concept of conventional BWR core-fuel design and reviews the operation experience. This report also discusses the new concept of core-fuel design which has been developed recently and has given a drastic improvement in core performance. Also discussed are the future perspectives for core-fuel design improvements.
